A bird alone in a cloudy sky

Bird in a cloudy Sky
This picture was taken by a friend of mine – Sidhu, he is very fond of photography, I used GIMP to modify the original picture and added some cloud effect and the poem by Abdul Rehman.
Naming Typhoons
The Ancient Hindus had a very strong belief that each of natural forces are real HUMANS / BEINGS (GODS!!!), Like Varuna Bhagavan (Water / Ocean), Agni (Lord of Fire), Vayu (Lord of Air / Wind / Typhoons). So the Hindus had long practised the art of naming the natural forces by name.
This concept of naming the natural forces was lost during Time and now people have again started naming the Typhoons by names, Katrina etc.,.
Once again the statement holds true “HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF !!!!!”…
Women, Periods and Temples
If you are from an orthodox brahmin family, then you must be familiar with this term “Aathula illa”, women during their periods are considerd to be outside, (thou they stay in the house), they become untouchables for those days, they are not allowed to enter temples. Nobody is going to check them, but its considered as a self discipline.
I always find reasons as why customs are followed and this particular habit of preaching women as not to enter temples during their periods seemed ridiculous for me. I never found the answer until last month. It suddenly occured to me.(it may not be the best explanation one can give, but atleast it will attempt to)…
Killing is considered a sin (killing of any sort…animals / insects / eggs / humans)…temples are places where people pay respect for their gods, in hindu (run by Brahmin preists) temples are considered sacred, no killing must take place inside the temple, no corpse must enter the temple, again its not a rule, people dont do it themselves in order to pay respect to the gods they believe in.
Everybody must know what a menstruation cycle is, the unfertilized egg is removed from the body as a part of the natural process, which becomes a sort of killing by the body itself. here is an extract from a popular womens site
/quote/
As a woman releases an egg each month, the lining of her womb becomes thicker to prepare itself for pregnancy. This is known as the menstrual cycle. If the egg is fertilised, this lining will then gently cushion the egg as it develops into a baby. If the egg is not fertilised, both the egg and lining leave the woman’s body
/unquote/
so a egg(a proabable human) is getting ready, since it does not mature (or in abscense of a Sperm) the body termiates it. This is not a sin(its a part of how the body works), but still its a life that does not get a chance to survive.
So the women do not enter temples, becos there cannot be any kind of killing inside a temple.
and according to me this is the kind of thinking that has made people to impose the way of not going to temples during the periods….
p.s.
Hindu religion gives the ultimate respect to women, they are part of the male gods rather than a wife sitting next to the gods. Without Sakthi, Shiva is not complete.
