Commit without changing the rows in DatagridView

March 13, 2008

I have searched quite enough for solving my problem, but i found no proper solution, Since I managed to fix it, iam blogging it so others can make use of it….

Problem:There is a datagrid in one of my winforms(vs2008/c#), i have enabled the allowaddnew property for it, i open my form in addnew mode and enter some details i n my grid view, i dont click on next row / column and directly click my save button, now whatever i have entered in the grid does not reflect on my binding source, (ofcourse i call the ENDEDIT of my binding source), i found several forums which does not give the actual information / solution i needed.

Methods I tried:i tried various methods

1) calling the EndEdity of my bindingsource

2) calling the accept changes of my datatable / dataset

this does not make much sense, becos the changes are not there on either my binding source/dataset/datatable yet. I almost gave up searching, then I noticed the property EndEdit for my datagrid….bingo…i called the EndEdit before i passmy data to the DB and I see the changes that i have made on the datagrid are available.

So this solves the problem….isntit…thnx for reading..cheers

Installation of Fedora

March 1, 2008

Prior to my previous post about moving to Linux. I have made a bold step, uninstalled my Vista once and for all, and now have my new OS as Fedora 8.

I first messed up with the installation, the installation does not proceed further after the message “Initializing boot…”, i reinstalled again and all worked so fine…

1) my resolution was messed up a little, i selected 1280 x something and my screen was way too away, the changed the resolution back(System –> Preferences –> HArdware –> Screen resolution) – as easy as that….

2) now I’m starting to play around, using the multiple work spaces, one always has my music player so that my current workplace, does not look messy at all(i always longed for this feature in windows –> even thou there were program groups –> it still did not have this multiple wrkspace thing, my first love with linux

3) there are some 128 updates available and my download manager is still downloading them(for more than 2 hrs now), so i will have my patience in letting it to complete…

I’m now trying to host my webserver and see how i can use Linux for websites…

jst a screen shot of my desktop as of now…more later…love to all who have helped me…thnx

this is my desktop
